JAY, Oklahoma – The Mayor of Jay was arrested Monday, accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from the city, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said.
According to the OSBI, 58-year-old Wayne Dunham, was taken into custody at his office at city hall. The OSBI said Dunham embezzled more than $18,000 from the city.
Dunham was booked into the Delaware County Jail on one count of embezzlement.
The OSBI said the city clerk, 50-year-old Teresa Smith-Gross, was also arrested in connection with the case. Gross was booked into the Delaware County Jail one a complaint of accessory after the fact.
