TULSA, Oklahoma – A man suffered only minor injuries after driving his car off a 25-foot cliff in Chandler Park Monday evening.
Raymond Waters was alert and talking when rescuers pulled him out in a basket using a tri-pod system. Firefighters used sheer muscle to get him out.
The car went off the cliff around 7:45 p.m. near the swimming pool at the front of the park.
"He said that he thought he was driving up to the edge to look. Obviously, he miscalculated where the edge was. Lot of times, the rocks, they cast shadows and you can't really see where the edge is," said Tulsa Fire Dist Chief Eddie Bell.
Rescuers say Waters, in his 50's, was able to get out of his car on his own.
