Tulsa Gets Spring Fever In January

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Get ready for a wild ride when it comes to the weather. On Friday it felt more like spring than the middle of winter. And while it may not last for long, many people are taking advantage of the warmer temperatures while they're here.

These aren't the dog days of summer, but the next two days can certainly change your wardrobe.

"Phenomenal! It's nice to not wear a winter coat," said Tulsa resident Alena Ghastin.

Alena Ghastin wanted to enjoy this beautiful break with her dogs.

"My parents live in Boston and they have three and a half feet of snow," she said. "So it's really super nice to be able to brag about how it's 65 degrees, and how I'm sitting out and probably don't even need a sweatshirt."

While the reminder of winter is never far away – with some snow still on the ground - some dog owners managed to catch some shuteye while their pets played.

People parks were packed today, too. From picnics to play dates, parents couldn't wait to let the kids run free.

"It makes the kids go stir crazy inside and they just need to get out and burn off that energy," said Ryan French, Tulsa resident.

"It's just been so gloomy and cold for so long, we just saw a nice day and we just had to get outside and soak up some of the sun," he said.

And business was booming for golf courses.

First thing Chris Baldwin thought when he heard about the two-day hall pass from winter?

"Heading to the golf course," Baldwin said.

LaFortune Golf Course had more than 200 rounds of golf scheduled by lunch time with several hours of daylight left.

"I kinda expected it to be full. You don't get too many days like this in January or February so, I suspect it to be like this every day we get 70 degree weather," said Tulsa resident Chris Baldwin.

And the weather was a perfect chance to wash winter away, at least until it returns next week. If you didn't have a chance to enjoy the temperatures on Friday, Saturday is supposed to be a mirror image.
