TULSA, Oklahoma -- The suspect in a Tulsa theft and police chase may wish he'd just paid for the 30-pack of Bud overnight Saturday.

Sergeant Steve Stoltz said that just after 2 a.m., a Tulsa police officer was flagged down by a QuikTrip employee at the Admiral and Harvard location after a man grabbed a 30-pack of beer and walked out without paying.

"The officer actually yelled at the suspect and said 'Hey, just go back and take the 30-pack back inside and pay for it,'", Stoltz said.

Instead the suspect looked at the officer then ran to his car and took off.

A "very low speed" chase ensued through neighborhood streets as the man tried to escape arrest, Stoltz said.

"The vehicle was occupied three times, two males and a female, and at one point one of the male passengers jumped out and ran off," Stoltz said.

A Tulsa police helicopter kept the suspect's car in sight until the man eventually lost control of his vehicle on the ice and hit an unoccupied, parked pickup truck. The male driver and the woman passenger were taken into custody.

"They were pretty unrepentant about what they had done, in fact the male made several comments that if it hadn't been icy he could have lost the officer and gotten away," Stoltz said.

The driver was identified as Christopher Springwater Nott, age 25. He was booked into Tulsa County Jail on complaints of driving under the influence, no driver's license, failure to stop at stop sign (six counts) and speed too fast for conditions.

The passenger, 32-year-old Trina Renae Brown, was booked on a complaint of public intoxication.
