Tulsa Cash Registers Ring As Folks Stock Up For Snow

TULSA, Oklahoma -- On the eve of the first real snow event of the season, many people think they should head to the grocery store to stock up on essentials, just in case. So I headed to a midtown Reasor's to see what people start stocking up on before the first flakes even hit.

The sound of snow coming sounds a lot like cash registers ringing at Reasor's. The forecast says inches of snow, so it's also the sound of people stocking up.

Jeff Burns is the manager here at the 15th and Lewis location. He says the store will get busier as the day goes along with folks picking up things they think they'll need.

"Milk, bread, toilet paper and water," said manager Jeff Burns. "They're just stocking up to be ready."

"Where's the lamp oil?," a customer asked.

"It's right over here," was the answer.

He told me the memory of the last ice storm is pretty fresh, so many folks will want these just in case.

One lady had a whole stack of frozen meals. She told me she's from Chicago and not afraid of a few snowflakes.

Another lady told me she is from out of town, not sure what to expect.

"Preparing to be stuck in my hotel room maybe," she said.

Maybe it's the storm threat - or just a good price – but they're selling lots of bananas, lots of bread too.

How much snow we supposed to get?

Oh, milk. Got lots. Ever wonder what the guy who lives in the milk display looks like?

Let's see, bread milk and uh – toilet paper. Guess I'd better get some too.

"You're just going with the crowd aren't you?"
