SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -- Members of the Tulsa Audubon Society will be on hand with spotting scopes and field guides to assist in locating bald eagles at Keystone Dam west of Sand Springs on Sunday, January 16, 2011.
The Audubon Society originally announced that the viewing was scheduled for Saturday; however, they called NewsOn6.com Friday morning to correct the date in their news release to Sunday.
Viewing time is 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the parking lot east of the Corps of Engineers Office on the north side of the Arkansas River.
Signs have been posted to direct those interested to the Watchable Wildlife Area.
During the winter, Oklahoma is home to anywhere from 700 to 1,500 eagles that migrate in from the northern states and Canada, with numbers peaking in January and February.
