UNDATED -- The Cherokee Nation has announced it will spend up to $60 million on a road construction project.
According to the roads program director, the tribe will construct almost 60 miles of roads in Adair County, most within the next five years.
To pay for the construction project, the Cherokee Nation will use the Federal Indian Reservation Roads funds along with bridge and vehicle access funds.
The Cherokee Nation says it now has cooperative road project agreements with all 14 counties that fall within its boundaries.
