TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Union Public Schools announced Tuesday it has named retired Tulsa Police officer Ross Ford as its Director of Security.
Ford replaces former Tulsa Police Chief Drew Diamond, who resigned last month to accept a position as executive director for the Jewish Federation of Tulsa.
"I have enjoyed serving the district as a board member and I look forward to new opportunities to serve as the district's Director of Security," Ross Ford said.
Ford was elected to the Union Board of Education in 2007. He recently stepped down from that position.
According to a news release from the district, while he was a Tulsa Police officer Ford was awarded the Chief's Award twice, as well as the Purple Heart and the Medal of Valor for service above and beyond the call of duty.
