Oklahomans Capture Images Of Lunar Eclipse

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oklahomans across the state went outside early Tuesday morning to look at the lunar eclipse.

The clouds moved out of downtown Tulsa around 1:30 Tuesday morning, giving people a perfect opportunity to look at the reddish moon.

The moon spent about 50 minutes completely under the earth's shadow. It changed colors because of indirect light coming from the earth's atmosphere.

The lunar eclipse coincided with winter solstice which, according to Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory, hasn't happened since December 21, 1638.
