BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- The new interim principal at Broken Arrow's North Intermediate High School is a professor at NSU.

Current principal Steve Nida recently announced his retirement which created the vacancy.

In a news release from the school district, Broken Arrow Public Schools' Superintendent Dr. Jarod Mendenhall met with the faculty of North Intermediate Wednesday and shared his gratitude and respect for Mr. Nida's service to the district.

The release says a search committee will be established in the spring of 2011 to begin the process of hiring the principal.

Dr. Barbara Evans has served as an assistant principal at Haskell Middle School and retired in 2000 as the principal of Childers Middle School.

Evans will begin her duties in January, 2011 and will serve through May, 2012.

She is currently serving as professor of graduate studies in education at Northeastern State University.
