Cleveland Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Semi

PAWNEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A Cleveland man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a semi-tractor trailer Wednesday morning in Pawnee County. The accident took place at 8:10 a.m. on U.S. Highway 64 about a mile west of State Highway 18.

Ralph Samuel Spears, 64, was northbound on U.S. 64 when he crossed the center lane and hit a southbound semi truck, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Armstrong.

Spears died at the scene of head, arm, leg and trunk injuries, the report states.

The truck driver, 41-year-old Shannon Maurice Hamlett of Perry was not injured.

Spears was wearing a helmet, and Hamlett was wearing a safety belt. Troopers say Spears' condition at the time of the collision was apparently normal. Cause of accident is listed as driving left of center.
