TULSA, Oklahoma – A Tulsa couple and their five children were left homeless Wednesday after their home was destroyed in a fire, the Tulsa Fire Department said.

Tulsa firefighters were called to the home in the 4100 block of East Xyler Street about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.  Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed.

"When our guys got there, they did see a house fully involved, with flames shooting out of the roof, out of the front of the house, and out of the back," Tim Smallwood, Tulsa Fire Department, said.

No one was home at the time the fire broke out.

Firefighters said the home was a total loss. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
