Sand Springs School Will Emphasize Fine Arts

SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -- Some Sand Springs students put on their hard hats Tuesday for an exciting event.

They braved the rain for the groundbreaking of the New Northwoods Fine Arts Academy. The elementary school will have an emphasis on fine arts along with the standard core curriculum.

It is being paid for with a bond that passed last year.

The superintendent says they should be able to move into the building in January 20-12, about six months ahead of schedule.

The old elementary will be used to house the district's alternative program.
