SALINA, Oklahoma -- A Mayes County community has raised over $40,000 for three brothers who lost their father two years ago and their mother in September.

Salina has held a series of fundraisers to help the Monk brothers; Leroy, 19; Dustin, 13; and Brandon, 9.

Their parents, Curtis and Karen Monk, passed away due to heart problems.

Fundraisers have included two auctions, a team roping event and a town bar-b-que supper.

One of the organizers, Joanie Gaskins, says the Salina community is "awesome," saying everyone has come together to help the three brothers.

She says she is proud of the people of Salina for what they've done and will do for the three boys.

Gaskins says money raised is going to bills, food and helping the three brothers to stay in their home.

Donations are still being accepted at the Lakeside Bank of Salina.  Donations can be made by stopping by the bank or mailing them to the Monk Donation Account at Lakeside Bank of Salina.
