TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA -- A 20-year-old Tahlequah woman is in the Cherokee County jail on a complaint of lewd acts with a minor child and Tahlequah Police say this may not be an isolated incident.
Tahlequah Police detective Reed Felts tells The News On 6 the incident occurred August 28, 2010 at the home of a co-worker.
Felts says the co-worker, who had befriended Shayna Cowan, had her over to watch a movie.
The co-worker and his wife went to bed and left Cowan and a 13-year-old boy watching the movie.
The boy told his mother the next day about what had occurred.
Felts says when questioned Cowan allegedly admitted to the incident.
He says Tahlequah Police have reason to believe Cowan has committed similar acts with other young boys in the Broken Arrow and Tahlequah areas. Felts says Cowan lived in Broken Arrow before moving to the Tahlequah area.
He says parents who believe their underage sons may have been involved in an incident with Cowan should call the Tahlequah Police Department and talk with Detective Reed Felts at 918-456-8801.
