TULSA, OK -- The City of Tulsa wants to make sure golfers are making it to the green. Two 18-hole courses are still open at Page Belcher and Mohawk Park, the City announced Wednesday.
Work is being done on two other courses at those parks to lay a Bermuda grass better suited to survive the Oklahoma heat.
"We think that golfers may have misunderstood and are thinking that all the courses at Mohawk Park and Page Belcher are closed," said golf courses general manager Tom Wolff. Wolff works for Billy Casper Golf, the company that manages the courses under contract with the City of Tulsa.
Tee time reservations have fallen off since the greens renovation project was announced.
Play continues at Stone Creek and Pecan Valley courses, and is expected to resume on Woodbine and Olde Page sometime in early October. The exact re-opening date depends on rainfall and temperatures between now and October. Time must be allowed for the new grass sprigs to take root and become established before the greens can be re-opened.
"But we are on schedule, and we look forward to announcing the date when those two courses will be re-opened in just a few weeks," Wolff said.
Tee-times can be reserved online by visiting the Tulsa Golf website or by calling 1-800-339-2997.
