We are entering probably the busiest time of year for me! Between now and the end of October, I'm a woman on a mission. We are gearing up for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, September 25th. I'm also spending a lot of time meeting with local businesses and organizations, encouraging them to create a team to race. It's what I love to do, though! I get to meet folks, one on one, and talk with them about this fight against breast cancer.

Not a day goes by that someone doesn't come up to me and talks about breast cancer. Some ask me how I'm doing. (I'm doing great… will celebrate my 7th anniversary in November) Others want to share their personal story of how breast cancer touched their lives. Sometimes these conversations turn into great story ideas! One in particular I'll be sharing with you later in August. One Tulsa elementary school has three breast cancer survivors and their school has rallied behind them to form a team.

Throughout the month of October (National Breast Cancer Awareness Month) I spend just about every week in the community, sharing about breast health and reminding folks to get those mammograms. While they're not perfect, the mammogram continues to be the best tool for early detection. If you are 40 years of age or older and have never had one, talk with your doctor. It could save your life!
