OKLAHOMA CITY -- A new report from the non-partisan group the National Resources Defense Council says more than a thousand counties across our nation could be short on water by 2050.
The report said one in three states face water shortages with 14 states facing the greatest risk including Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Kansas.
The NRDC said the shortage could be caused by an increased demand by consumers and agriculture, as well as warmer temperatures and a reduced supply.
