Tahlequah Woman Pleads Guilty To Embezzlement

Donna Leann Cooper pleaded guilty to embezzlement from a labor organization, according to U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma Sheldon J. Sperling.

MUSKOGEE, OK -- A Tahlequah woman entered a guilty plea to embezzlement from a labor organization, according to U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma Sheldon J. Sperling.

Donna Leann Cooper, 58, was charged with embezzling about $69,000 from October, 2004 to October, 2008 while she was an employee of the Laborers International Union. She was indicted in June for using an official union issued credit card to make unauthorized purchases and ATM withdrawals for her personal use.

Punishment for the offense is not more than five years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. She is expected to receive 10 to 16 months imprisonment, according to the news release.

Cooper is currently out on bond, awaiting sentencing.
