TULSA, OK -- The suspect in a Tulsa homicide was arrested at a Texas motel Friday night, according to Tulsa Police.
Police in Marshall, Texas located Greg Carter, 19, at a Super 8 motel. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Carter is wanted in connection with the shooting death of Cookie Sherman. Sherman was the mother of 10-month-old twins, a two-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. Her family says Cookie was a nice person and they are frantic over her murder.
Friends and family hugged and cried when they learned of Cookie Sherman's sudden and violent death. She was in an apartment on East Admiral Friday morning with her sister and her four small children when police say she was shot to death.
In addition to raising her 10-month-old twins, two-year-old daughter and five-year-old son, her family says she was hoping to start school this fall for training in the medical field.
"She had her hands full but was a good mother," said Steve Lover, Cookie's brother-in-law. "The guy had been around a couple of months, we were just evaluating him, seeing what he was about, around the children especially. He seemed okay, and then they started having some problems, but, nothing major to this point."
Cookie's five-year-old-son, Coryann, went from being a little boy to a witness in his own mother's murder, in the blink of an eye.
Steve told News On 6 Crime Reporter Lori Fullbright they are going to miss Cookie's sense of humor and will do their best to do right by her children.
They think it's so sad for this to happen now, when she had a whole future ahead of her.
