TULSA, OK -- Note: NewsOn6.com does not usually report on suicide attempts, but in this case the attempt was seen by many people and affected traffic for some time. We thought users would be interested in learning the outcome.
Tulsa Police successfully intervened in a suicide attempt early Friday afternoon when a man threatened to jump from the bridge on Lewis that crosses over I-244.
Officer Larry Denson said they were called to a Med-X Pharmacy on a report that the man was threatening his life. When officers arrived, the man ran to the bridge and "tried to jump off the bridge."
"We got him apprehended so that his life wasn't ended, and now we're going to the hospital," Denson said at the scene.
Officers used a taser to bring the man off the bridge.
"It was a blessing that we got him," Denson said.
