WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage is one of two Oklahoma women chosen as delegates to the upcoming "Vision 2020: An American Conversation about Women and Leadership."
Vision 2020 is a national project focused on advancing women in leadership positions and move America toward equality by 2020, the centennial celebration of the 19th Amendment.
The conference will take place in Philadelphia in October, 2010.
Savage was appointed Oklahoma's Secretary of State by Gov. Brad Henry in 2003. Savage was the Mayor of Tulsa from 1992 to 2002, making her the most tenured and first woman mayor in Tulsa's history.
The other Oklahoma delegate is Meismer Yerkes who served for 25 years in an administrative capacity with the Oklahoma State Department of Health as the Chief of Chronic Disease where she planned and implemented chronic disease prevention programs with the assistance of a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals.
