TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Public Schools does not plan to make up the day students missed because of storms last week. The state's second largest school district canceled classes Thursday because of power outages at multiple schools.
District spokesperson Tami Marler said Monday that Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard would recommend the school board not make any changes to the school calendar.
If the board approves, Marler says students would not have any additional instruction days, but teachers would finish out their contracts with an additional professional development day on June 4th.
Marler said the Tulsa Public School calendar already exceeds state requirements, so state approval is not required to eliminate a day in the classroom.
