SKIATOOK, OK -- The group of Green Country parents clamoring for an investigation into their school district's wasteful spending is one step closer to getting a grand jury.
Several Skiatook parents spent the last month and a half gathering signatures to try to find out why the school district wasted half a million dollars on overpriced custodial supplies and security equipment.
They turned in more than 7,000 signatures. On Friday, the Tulsa County Election Board certified more than 6,000 of those signatures as valid. Petition organizers have previously said they only needed 5,000 to impanel a grand jury.

The matter will go to a Tulsa county judge next.
