Kansas Camper Drowns In Washington County Lake

A 24-year-old Caney, Kansas man drowned at Copan Lake in Washington County overnight Saturday, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, OK -- A 24-year-old Caney, Kansas man drowned at Copan Lake in Washington County overnight Saturday, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Brandon E. Clopp was camping with friends at Osage Plains Campground. He woke up and complained of leg pain, telling his friends he was going for a walk. His body was discovered in the lake in about two feet of water close to shore by the a Corps of Engineers officer at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The trooper's report states that there was evidence of the victim's alcohol and prescription medication use.
