TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Parks will dedicate Woodward Park's newest statue, "Poems and Promises" on at 10 a.m. Friday. The public is invited to attend the event which will be held inside Woodward Park's Anne Hathaway Herb Garden just south of 21st Street at Rockford.
Local artist Rosalind Cook created the life-sized statue which depicts a young woman sitting on a tree stump and reading a book. Cook will be the featured speaker at the dedication.
"Poems and Promises" is Cook's 25th sculpture in Tulsa's public areas.

Public Works recently replanted the Herb Garden to highlight the statue. The dedication coincides with National Public Gardens Day.
Over the past year, Tulsa Parks has had five art pieces installed at the following parks:
Newblock: 1414 Charles Page Blvd
Creek Council Oak: 1750 S. Cheyenne
Creek Stickball: 1800 S. Cheyenne
Veterans: 1875 S. Boulder
Woodward: 2101 S. Peoria
