Large Quantity Of Stolen Items Recovered In Rogers County

ROGERS COUNTY -- Investigative work by the Rogers County Sheriff's Office has resulted in an arrest and the recovery of a large quantity of stolen property.

The investigation started with a tip that led deputies to the 31000 block of South 4170 Road in Rogers County, near Inola.

They arrested John Reed, 38-years-old. 

Deputies searched Reed's property and located several large stolen items including a 4-wheeler, a single-axle chemical spray rig, a horse trailer, a flat bed trailer and two cargo box trailers.

"Lowest form of life that I know of is somebody that will steal.  Liars and thieves I just got no tolerance for at all," said Tony Mullenger, Insurance Agent.

Record checks of the property revealed that many of the items had been reported stolen.

Sheriff's deputies say the cargo box trailer had been stolen from a man who had stopped and spent the night at an east Tulsa hotel and awoke to discover his trailer had been stolen.

The welder had been reported stolen from the Inola area.

The horse trailer and spray rig had both been stolen in Claremore. And the 4-wheeler had been reported stolen from the Bass Pro Shop in Broken Arrow.

Deputies say the investigation also lead them to a location in Sallisaw, where in conjunction with the investigators from the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, deputies were able to locate and recover more property.

The list included a 40-foot flatbed trailer, a Bobcat welding machine and an engine, transmission and drive-train parts from a truck recovered in Rogers County.

John Reed was booked into the Rogers County jail on several complaints including, knowingly concealing stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled and dangerous drug and possession of ammunition.       

"We certainly want to have room in our jail for thieving thugs that will take stuff from people like this," said Scott Walton, Rogers County Sheriff.

Deputies say Reed is a convicted felon.

"There is some satisfaction in catching the criminal, truly there is," Mullenger said. 

Rogers County investigators are working with other law enforcement agencies to see how widespread this case is.  They anticipate more arrests.
