TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa City Council met for the first time with the investigator handling the probe of Mayor's Chief of Staff Terry Simonson.

The investigator had met separately before with individual councilors, but Tuesday's meeting was the first with the entire council.

The council is investigating statements Simonson made to them about a federal grant for police officer salaries. Simonson told the council the federal grant money could not be used to pay officer salaries until after they were laid off.

The U.S. Department of Justice, which administers the grant, has no such requirement.

The meeting was in executive session and afterward councilors would only say the probe should be done in four weeks.
