TULSA, OK -- Officers with the Tulsa Police Department seized 1,500 pounds of marijuana Saturday.

Officer Jason Willingham said a Tulsa police officer and his canine, who is on temporary assignment from the Special Investigations Division, saw a Ford F350 with Mississippi tags, along with a 20-foot enclosed trailer, parked in an empty lot at about 12:05 a.m. in the 2700 Block of South Memorial Avenue.

The dog alerted the officer that there were illegal narcotics in the vehicle, according to Officer Willingham. After searching the vehicle, officers found 1,500 pounds of marijuana.

Officer Willingham said it is unknown if the marijuana was intended for Tulsa, or just a stop along the way to its final destination.

Anyone who has information that could help police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
