CINCINNATI, OH -- A six-year-old boy who lost all four limbs in the bacterial meningitis outbreak in Oologah is making progress on his long and painful road to recovery.

Jeremiah Mitchell is healing from skin grafts he received at the Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati.

His grandmother tells The News On 6 doctors are pleased with Jeremiah's progress and that the grafts are looking good.

But she says Jeremiah is still heavily medicated and in a lot of pain.

Gidget Mitchell says her grandson lost part of his tongue and cheek and is not able to talk.

She says if the skin grafts take, doctors will start rebuilding the six-year-old's face using muscle from his shoulder or his side.
