TULSA, OK -- Thursday afternoon, the John Hope Franklin Center for Reconciliation will present 250 copies of the book, 'Events of the Tulsa Disaster,' a limited-edition, first-person account of the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot by survivor Mary E. Jones Parrish, to Tulsa Public Schools, Tulsa City-County Library, and Tulsa Community College.

Originally published in 1923, the memoir is Mrs. Parrish's journal recorded immediately after the race riot.

In a news release, the John Hope Franklin Center For Reconciliation says the book had been out of print for years, but they've created a facsimile reproduction of the original through funding from The Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation and The Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation.

"Mary Parrish's little book is a major resource for the study of a nationally important historical event in Tulsa. Through her eyes, we feel both the terror of the victims and the Christian forgiveness of a young woman who acknowledged that the mob, not all Tulsans, were responsible. It is a remarkable journal of interest to scholars, students and the general public. The JHF Center for Reconciliation is pleased to make it available to a broad audience," said Lee Clark Johns, chair of the Center's program committee.

The presentation will take place in the auditorium at Fulton Teaching & Learning Academy at 8906 East 34th Street.
