TULSA---Today the nationally acclaimed Cavani String Quartet performed at Clinton Middle School as part of Chamber Music Tulsa's music education outreach. The all-female ensemble played for over 450 students from Remington, McKinley, Park Elementary and Clinton Middle Schools.
‘Some of them have never experienced such a professional group of quartet players,' said Clinton Principal Shelly Holman, ‘so it brings the fine arts here to the west side of Tulsa.'
The hour-long concert featured music by Mozart, Beethoven and Bartoc with songs by the Temptations and the Beachboys thrown in for a modern twist on chamber music.
‘Our goal, when we perform for young people is to we want them to understand how much fun we have doing it,' said Cavani's cellist Merry Peckham, ‘and that it's something that might be cool for them to try.'
The Cavani String Quartet is based in Cleveland, Ohio.
