OKLAHOMA CITY -- Severe thunderstorms rumbled across parts of Oklahoma late Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for 34 counties in central, northern and eastern parts of the state until 4 a.m. Wednesday. Oklahoma City and Tulsa were included in that watch.
Storms began developing southward into Oklahoma as a storm system and cold front approached from the west Tuesday night.
No damage or injuries were reported with the storms.

TULSA, OK -- A dynamic system is coming toward Tulsa as evidenced by strong southerly winds, according to News On 6 Meteorologist Dick Faurot.
"Those winds have been gusting to more than 40 mph at times and that is just the gradient wind, which means the winds produced by the tight surface pressure gradient," said Faurot. "Add thunderstorms to the mix, and the potential for severe weather with damaging winds, hail and perhaps a tornado or two, is something we will be closely monitoring for (Tuesday) evening and overnight."

A dry line is moving across western Oklahoma marking the boundary between westerly winds and much drier air at the surface and the southerly winds and much higher moisture levels that we now have. As that boundary moves on eastward and intersects a Pacific cool front moving SE out of Kansas, we expect storms to be developing in Kansas and further southward into Oklahoma Tuesday and through the overnight hours.
"The storms should be exiting the eastern part of the state during the wee hours of the morning, leaving us with cooler conditions for Wednesday. Also, the winds will be more from the W then NW as the day wears on and not nearly as strong as (Tuesday).
