TULSA---For those seeking an alternative K-8th grade education, representatives of the Oklahoma Virtual Academy were in Tulsa today answering questions about their online program.
‘We're an online public school,' said Virtual Academy Teacher Sheryl Tatum, ‘so the kids do instruction at home, but it's different than home-schooling because there are certain requirements since we are a public school, like attendance, minimum progress and participation in state testing.'
Besides the flexibility of learning at home, the Oklahoma Virtual Academy is tuition-free and available to all Oklahoma families with children in the first through eighth grade. Books, videos and other instructional materials are shipped directly to the student's home from K12 Inc., creators of the award-winning curriculum.
