TULSA, OK -- The Hanson brothers returned to their home base to film a video for their latest release, Shout It Out. The band shot the video in the historic Greenwood District.
The song is called "Thinking About Something," and it's a tribute to the 1980s movie The Blues Brothers with Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi.
"The video is essentially recreating 'Shake Your Tail Feather' from the Blues Brothers, a great scene with Ray Charles," Zac Hanson said Saturday morning. "It's Chicago in the movie, but it's Tulsa for us."
About 500 fans turned out to help the group and shake their tail feathers on the Tulsa street.
"It's amazing how quick these people are picking it up, and they're just walking off the street essentially. And we're going, ‘OK do this' and then 300 plus people are doing the moves, and it's really fun," said Zac Hanson.
"Everybody here will be able to say, ‘ohhh, that's me, I was dancing there in the back,'" said Taylor Hanson.
Genevieve Wilton was born and raised in South Africa, but has been living in San Francisco for the last two years. She flew into town just to dance in the video.
"It'll be cool to watch the video. And even my family back in South Africa, even my grandmother was like, all excited, she was like ‘oh my gosh, you're going to be in a Hanson video,'" said Wilton.
Other dancers are homegrown. Jamar Jenkins, 19, is an East Central graduate and as a principal dancer, he's been practicing for weeks.
"It's a great experience, I just can't get enough. This is really awesome, really awesome," said Jenkins.
Shout It Out will hit stores on June 1st.
