Daughter Survives, Mother Dies In Muskogee House Fire

One woman is dead and another hospitalized after Muskogee Firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday evening.

MUSKOGEE, OK -- One woman is dead and another hospitalized after Muskogee firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday evening. 

Christine West, 44, is in stable condition at a Muskogee hospital. Firefighters found the body of her mother Carol, 67, inside the house. The women lived together in the Muskogee home.

The Muskogee Fire Department was called to the residence in the 2500 block of Tull Place for the structure fire at about 6:34 p.m., according to Public Information Officer Pedro Zardeneta of the Muskogee Police Department.

Christine West was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The Muskogee Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire while the Muskogee Police Department is investigating the cause of death.
