Shooter's Family Reacts To Death Of 1-Year-Old Girl In Roland Robbery

ROLAND, OK -- There is new information Wednesday in the shooting death of a 1-year-old girl who was shot while riding in a car with two suspected robbers. The Ft. Smith girl died earlier this week at an Arkansas hospital after the Roland, Oklahoma shooting.

Devin Jeremiah's family says he had no way of knowing the little girl was in the car. They say Jeremiah had been badly beaten and robbed at his home near Roland on Saturday.

Investigators say as the suspects drove away, Jeremiah grabbed a gun and fired several shots at the getaway car.

It wasn't until later he found out he'd killed a child.

"He, I know, had been worried about the little girl, and been praying for her. You know it hasn't even hit him, like it hasn't hit any of us about what's happened," said Bobbie Keefner, Devin Jeremiah's aunt.

Police say the little girl's mother drove the suspects to Jeremiah's home.

The District Attorney's office hasn't said yet whether it will file any charges against Jeremiah or the child's mother.
