TULSA, OK -- A number of residents in Tulsa and Tahlequah will see U.S. Census forms hanging on their door knobs Monday, nearly two weeks in advance of the rest of the nation.
Many residents with P.O. boxes will see Census workers delivering an "Update/Leave" form at their home or apartment.
Census Bureau officials say the resident can then fill out their Census form, and mail it back in a pre-paid envelope.
The rest of Tahlequah and Tulsa households, as well as the rest of the nation, will receive their 2010 Census forms in the mail March 15-17.
In Okmulgee, the Creek Nation held a U.S. Census kick-off rally at its complex Monday.
Residents getting their forms starting Monday are part of a select group of our nation's housing units that lack city-style addresses with house numbers and street names.
According to a news release from the U.S. Census Bureau, a worker will visit each housing unit, update the address on the census list, and leave a form packaged in a plastic bag at the home's main door.
The news release says the 2010 Census questionnaire will be one of the shortest in U.S. history and consists of 10 questions, taking about 10 minutes to complete.
