MAYES COUNTY -- Potholes are causing problems all over Green Country.
On Monday, a viewer who joined The News On 6 morning story chat on NewsOn6.com said how one person is dealing with pothole problems in rural Mayes County.
Potholes are so bad on many county roads in Mayes County, one resident has decided to spray fluorescent paint on the bad potholes to draw the attention of county officials.
"It's everywhere, it's everywhere," said driver Travis Holt. "Tear up a vehicle in a heartbeat."
"They're terrible. The roads are all falling apart," said driver Bessie Scheffel.
In fluorescent orange paint, the spray painted potholes, with messages asking that they please be fixed, were noticed.
Within days, the potholes were filled.
"I didn't do it, but it's a good idea," said Scheffel.
Scheffel doesn't know who did it, but she's glad somebody did, to bring awareness to the pothole problem, and at the very least warn of the danger to drivers.
"Just like putting a little flag up," said Scheffel.
