Muskogee Chamber Re-Makes 'Okie From Muskogee'

Nearly 40 years after country star Merle Haggard sang a tribute to the Oklahoma town of Muskogee, its Chamber of Commerce is looking for YouTube hits on a remade version.

MUSKOGEE, OK -- Forty some years after country star Merle Haggard sang a tribute to the Oklahoma town of Muskogee, its Chamber of Commerce is looking for YouTube hits on a remade version.

"The new Okie From Muskogee Video that celebrates the power of a song and stars local celebrities," said  Chamber of Commerce President Sue Harris.

"The video spotlights some of Muskogee's most beautiful and recognizable locations."

The group hopes to gain a million hits with the song that living right in a classic, free and easy western atmosphere, or, as the song puts it "livin' right and bein' free."

Harris hopes music fans everywhere will post the song on their social media pages and forward it in emails to all their friends.
