TULSA, OK -- Oral Roberts University is reducing its staff. In a news release from the university Monday afternoon, ORU says the reduction will impact about 50 positions.
"The university has made excellent strides financially and these upcoming changes are necessary to continue on this road to economic vitality," said Mark Rutland, president of ORU. "This progress is crucial to ensuring the mission of this great institution for generations to come."
The release goes on to say the employees whose positions are affected will be relieved of their duties but will continue to be employed by ORU for 60 days.
In addition, an outplacement company has been hired to assist affected employees in their job search.
ORU says the reductions are being made to departments throughout the university.
No current faculty positions were impacted by the staff reduction, which the news release says was a way for ORU to balance its budget.
