TULSA, OK -- On Friday, a judge denied bond for a man charged with kidnapping a woman and her 9-year old-daughter. Allen Shields' attorney asked a judge today to reduce his client's $1.25 million bond.
But the judge did the opposite and revoked it altogether after prosecutors convinced him Shields is not only a threat to his victims but to the community at large.
Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris filed a motion that not only links Allen Shields to Monday's crime but also a three-year-old cold case and a high profile murder.
911: "Police emergency."
Girl: "I want you to please help me. Somebody's trying to kill my mama please hurry."
That's the plea from a terrified 9-year-old girl that led to Allen Shields arrest. But prosecutors say there are more reasons for Shields to be behind bars.
"I believe based on our investigation that he is a danger to these individual victims and the community at large," said Tulsa DA Tim Harris.
Police arrested Shields on Monday, accusing him of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home with pepper spray and a gun. Shields was booked into the Tulsa County jail but was out on a $90,000 bond within hours.
Prosecutors convinced a judge on Tuesday to raise that bond to more than a million dollars. Shields' attorney fought to get the higher bond reduced. He says his client has no criminal record, a successful business, and ties to the community.
The district attorney paints a much different picture. He says in his motion, that Shields has had "more than 60 contacts with law enforcement."
"He's a person of interest in other criminal investigations," Harris said.
One of them is the 2007 disappearance of Tulsa mother, Angie Tucker. Tucker filed a protective order against Shields, claiming he broke into her apartment and raped her back in October of 2007.
Tucker was reported missing a few weeks later and has never been found.
Shields was never arrested or charged in that case. The DA also links Shields to the high-profile murder-for-hire case of Tulsa businessman, Neal Sweeney.
Harris says at the preliminary hearing for the triggerman, a witness identified Fred Shields as being involved. He is Allen Shields' brother. They says police believe Allen Shields may know something about Sweeney's death because of his ties to his brother and others named at that hearing.
Prior to his arrest Monday night, Allen Shields has never been convicted of any crime. He has not been charged in either the Tucker or Sweeney cases.
The News On 6 left a message for Shields attorney late Friday afternoon, but he did not return the call.
