TULSA, OK -- Judge Rebecca Nightingale had an unusual case on her docket Friday.
The lawyers, the jurors, even her bailiff, were all eighth grade students from Monte Cassino in Tulsa. They were putting on a mock trial as part of their American Studies class.
The issue is whether the state should consider cheerleading a contact sport.
It's not your ordinary school lesson.
"Oh, I've loved it. It's so much better than sitting in a classroom, reading it in a textbook. When you get to do it, get to learn what normal attorneys and judges do, it's so much better than reading a book," said Molleigh McCann, Plaintiff's Attorney.
Most of the spectators were parents and the jury ruled cheerleading is a contact sport.
