TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is ready with shelter locations across northeastern Oklahoma. The Red Cross says they have shelters in 18 northeast Oklahoma counties on standby.
During a briefing Thursday afternoon, Brian Jensen, Red Cross emergency services director, says trailers with cots and blankets have been pre-positioned in key areas so that shelters may be set up quickly if the need arises.
Jensen says Heater Meals (MREs) have been pre-positioned to many of the shelter locations so that in the event roads become impassable, the Red Cross can still provide food at its shelters.
