TULSA, OK -- About 100 Tulsa Public Schools employees will learn this week that their jobs have been eliminated for the next school year. About 40 employees have already received word, according to spokesperson Tami Marler.
The 100 administrative central services positions are being eliminated to save the school system about $5 million, Tami Marler said.
"The expectation is that the district will be leaner, more efficient and more responsive to our schools and students," she said.
The remaining employees will learn by Friday that their positions have been deleted for the upcoming fiscal year.
"These are not layoffs," Marler said. "Employees who hold these positions will work through June and will be given preference if they apply for newly created or newly vacated positions."
Tulsa Public School Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard recently announced that the district was considering eliminating these positions.
