ROGERS COUNTY -- Rogers County Sheriff's Office is seeking help in investigating a series of thefts from churches and businesses throughout the county.  The thieves are targeting air conditioner units.

"Stealing from churches is pretty low, and we're going to do everything we can to investigate these larcenies," said Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton.

"Victims such as the churches depend on contributions to make these purchases, and the loss of an expensive item like an air conditioner can really have a bad impact on the church."

The thieves targeted an Oologah area church at some time between January 17 – 20. Several units had been taken apart for thieves to remove the copper from the units. Two other air conditioner units were taken from the church.

In another incident, burglars targeted a church and area businesses in the Inola area. Three air conditioners were stolen from a sandwich shop, and an Inola church was also the victim of air conditioner larceny, Walton said.

Again, some of the air conditioner units were dismantled for copper and some were taken altogether.

The Rogers County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the burglaries but has no suspects at this time. Anyone with any information in these cases is asked to call the Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 918-341-3620.

Callers can remain anonymous.
