TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Police and Fire were on the scene for over an hour at an accident on 46th Street North east of 145th East Avenue.
Police say two vehicles were involved in the crash, and it forced authorities to shut down State Highway 266, which is also 46th Street North and also known as the Port Road.
Police tell The News On 6 a PT Cruiser was westbound on 266 when it went left of center and struck an eastbound SUV head-on. The driver of the PT Cruiser had to be rescued by firefighters. The SUV driver appeared to have only minor injuries.
EMSA says it transported a 43-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man to a Tulsa hospital. Both were listed in serious condition.
Initial reports indicated a semi was involved in the accident, but Tulsa Police say the semi's driver swerved and ended up on the embankment and did not strike either vehicle.
An investigation into the accident continues.
