Still Talking About Whether To Overlay Or Split The 918 Area Code

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Corporation Commission will continue discussions on Monday, January 4 on which plan to implement concerning the 918 area code. 

Earlier this month, the state Corporation Commission delayed voting on which way to go.

The commission has two choices, overlay or split. 

With the overlay plan, all existing numbers would keep the 918 area code and new phone numbers would get a new area code. 

With a split, the existing 918 area code area would be divided into two parts, with one part keeping 918 and the other getting a new area code.  

The OCC will be holding public deliberations on January 4 in Oklahoma City on what plan to institute. 

Those deliberations are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Room 301 of the Jim Thorpe Building at 2101 North Lincoln in Oklahoma City.
