Hummer Driver In Sand Springs Fatality Wreck Arrested

TULSA, OK -- The 20-year-old driver of a Hummer involved in a fatality accident Thursday that left a Sand Springs family dead was arrested shortly after the wreck.

Steven Wade Jameson of Stillwater was booked into the Tulsa jail on complaints of possession of marijuana (first offense) and driving with a canceled license.

Jameson told troopers that he looked at his dog in the back seat of his 2004 Hummer SUV at about 12:14 p.m. Thursday. When he looked up, he said, he had crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevy Cobalt head-on.

The occupants of the Cobalt, Michael Mulanax, 42; his wife Angela, 41, and their son James Mulanax, 18, all died at the scene.

The accident took place on Highway 51 just west of the intersection with State Highway 97. Jameson was arrested by Trooper Matt Logsdon, the same trooper whose name is listed on the accident report.

As the trooper inventoried the contents of Jameson's Hummer, he found an orange pill bottle with a baggie containing a substance that tested positive for marijuana. During his investigation, he learned Jameson's license had been canceled for "drugs/alcohol under the age of 18" the report states.

Jameson was treated and released from St. John Hospital in Tulsa for leg injuries then was arrested.

A blood sample was taken at the hospital and is being tested by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, according to the arrest report.
