TULSA COUNTY, OK -- Local baseball players hit a home run for people in need this holiday season.

The Sandites baseball team at Charles Page High challenged the Broken Arrow Tigers to a canned food drive.

The two teams spent two weeks collecting food for the John 3:16 mission.

Today the players brought in box after box of donations to help stock the pantry.

While competition is fierce on the field, this was all about giving back.

"No matter what the total weights are, people eating this Christmas will be the real winners of this," said Trey Hunt, Sandite Baseball Player.

John 3:16 couldn't agree more. Together the Sandites and Tigers delivered more than 4500 pounds of food.

By the way, for those of you set on keeping score, Sand Springs won the challenge.
